Construction workers on an active building site
Built for your industry

Why this matters for construction & trade crews

Construction crews report to a job site, not a central office, and that site changes every few weeks. Paper timesheets and end-of-week guesswork lead to disputes over hours and overtime. Hourvy lets every crew member clock in from their phone at the job site itself, so you have an accurate, timestamped record of hours worked for every project.

Worked example

Two jobs, one week, with overtime

A carpenter paid $25 an hour works 30 hours on one job and 16 on another, with overtime at 1.5× after 40 hours a week. Job costs use straight time; the overtime premium is worked out on the whole week.

Item Calculation Amount
Job A labor cost 30 h × $25 $750.00
Job B labor cost 16 h × $25 $400.00
Overtime premium for the week 6 h × $25 × 0.5 $75.00
Carpenter's pay for the week $750.00 + $400.00 + $75.00 $1,225.00
How it works

Three steps. No spreadsheets.

01

Workers clock in

Each worker gets a free login and clocks in and out from their own phone, or at a shared tablet kiosk with their PIN. Or skip that and log hours for them yourself. No hardware to buy.

02

Hours & pay calculate automatically

Hourvy subtracts breaks, applies your overtime rules, adds tips and bonuses, and shows exactly what each worker is owed.

03

You mark it paid

Pay however you already do (cash, transfer, check or your payroll provider), then log it so balances stay accurate. Export to Gusto, QuickBooks, Xero or ADP in one click.

Simple enough for anyone to use — no training required.

$1 per active seat / month

Each worker, each manager and you are one seat. No base fee, no per-location fee, every feature included. 30-day free trial, no card.

Time tracking for Construction & Trade Crews: questions

Can the crew clock in at the job site?

Yes. Crew members clock in from their own phone at the site, using the phone's web browser, with nothing to download. Switch on the location check to compare where they are with your saved sites, and flag or block clock-ins that are too far away.

Can I see labor cost for each project?

Yes. Switch on job costing and create a job for each project, with an optional client name and budget hours. Workers pick the job when they clock in, and the Jobs page shows hours, labor cost and the number of workers for any dates, with a budget bar.

What if someone moves between sites in one day?

While clocked in, they pick the next job and tap Switch. Hourvy ends their time on the first job and starts it on the next. Overtime still counts all their hours for the week together.

How does Hourvy work out overtime?

Set your daily and weekly thresholds and multiplier, for example 8 hours a day, 40 a week and 1.5×. Hourvy applies them to every shift. For workers on more than one rate in a week, you can use the weighted-average regular rate method used under the US FLSA.

Can laborers and foremen have different rates?

Yes. Every worker has their own hourly rate. With Roles & pay rates on, you can also create roles with default rates and let workers who do more than one kind of work pick a role at clock-in.

How do I avoid arguments about hours?

Every clock-in and clock-out is timestamped, and every edit is kept in your Activity Log with its reason. Switch on timesheet sign-off and each worker confirms their hours, or tells you what's wrong, when you generate payroll.

Is there really no monthly base fee or minimum charge?

Zero base fees, zero minimums. You pay only for active seats: each worker, each manager and you, the owner. A team of 4 workers plus you is 5 seats, so $5 a month. No setup, admin or cancellation fees.

What counts as a seat for billing?

A seat is every active person on your account: each active worker, each manager and the owner. You're billed for the most seats you had during the month, so someone active for 1 day or all 30 costs the same flat seat price for that month. It's based on their active status, not how many shifts they logged.

What happens when my 30-day free trial ends?

Because we don't ask for a credit card to start your trial, you'll never be charged automatically. Near the end of your 30 days we'll remind you to add a payment method if you want to keep using Hourvy. If you decide it's not for you, your account simply pauses. No cancellation calls needed.
