Break & rest rules in Hourvy, in short
Hourvy's break and rest rules let you set a minimum break for long shifts (for example 30 minutes on shifts longer than 5 hours) and a minimum rest period between shifts (for example 10 hours). Shifts that break a rule get a badge on Time Logs, planned shifts with too little rest are flagged on the schedule before you publish, and you get an email alert plus a count in your weekly summary. Hourvy flags breaches but never changes pay.
Catch the missed break and the late-close-early-open before they become a problem.
Badges you can't miss
"Missed 30-min break" or "Only 8h rest before this shift" appears right on the shift in Time Logs.
Fix it before it happens
The schedule warns you when a planned shift leaves too little rest, so a late close followed by an early open never gets published.
Only real breaks count
A break recorded with Start Break and End Break, or entered on a shift edit, counts. An automatic break deduction doesn't, because nobody actually stopped working.
Auto-deduct breaks on long shifts
Separately, set an automatic unpaid break, such as 30 minutes on shifts longer than 6 hours. Breaks the worker recorded count toward it.
Up and running in three steps
- Tick Break and rest rules in Settings → Optional features.
- Fill in Break of at least (minutes), On shifts longer than (hours) and Rest between shifts (hours).
- Click Save rules. Breaches start showing on Time Logs, the Schedule and in your alerts.
Optional features are off until you switch them on, and are included in the price either way.
Good to know
- Hourvy doesn't choose the numbers for you. Check the break and rest rules where you operate, then enter them.
- Leave a rule blank to switch it off.

Does Hourvy know my state's or country's break laws?
No. You enter the minimum break and rest numbers that apply to you, and Hourvy flags every shift that doesn't meet them.
Do flagged shifts change anyone's pay?
No. Break and rest rules only flag shifts and alert you. Pay is always based on the hours actually worked.
What is a "clopen" and can Hourvy catch it?
A clopen is closing late one night and opening early the next morning. Set a minimum rest between shifts and Hourvy warns you on the schedule and flags it on Time Logs.
