GPS location check in Hourvy, in short

Hourvy's location check (geofencing) compares a worker's phone location with your saved work locations at the moment they clock in or out. You set a radius for each site; 150 m suits most shops. Clock-ins away from work can be allowed but flagged with the distance, or blocked until the worker arrives. Hourvy reads the location only at clock-in and clock-out and never tracks workers in between.

Why owners love it

Know they're on site when they clock in, without tracking them all day.

Flag it or block it

Allow and flag: the shift gets an "In: 350 m away" badge and you get an email. Block: the worker sees how far away they are and can't clock in until they arrive.

Every site counts

Add as many work locations as you need. Being at any one of them counts, which suits crews that move between sites.

Review in seconds

Filter Time Logs to "Location issues only", then click a badge to see the exact spot on a map.

Privacy your team can accept

The location is read only at the moment of the tap, and the clock screen tells workers so. No background tracking and no location history.

Nobody gets stuck on the clock

Clocking out is never blocked. Where someone clocked out from is still recorded and flagged.

Built for real phones

Hourvy allows for the accuracy each phone reports, up to an extra 100 m, so GPS drift indoors doesn't set off false alarms.

How it works

Up and running in three steps

  1. In Settings → Optional features, tick the location check and save.
  2. Add a work location: tap Use my current location on site, or paste coordinates from Google Maps, and pick a radius.
  3. Choose Allow it, but flag it or Block it for clock-ins away from work.

Optional features are off until you switch them on, and are included in the price either way.

Straight answers

Good to know

  • A determined worker can fake their phone's location. Treat a flag as a strong nudge and a record you can check, not as proof.
  • Nothing is checked until you've added at least one work location.

GPS location check FAQ

Does Hourvy track my employees' location all day?

No. Hourvy asks for the phone's location only when a worker taps Clock In or Clock Out, and never tracks them in between. The clock screen tells workers this.

What if a worker's phone won't share its location?

In "allow and flag" mode they clock in as normal and the shift gets a grey "no location" badge. In "block" mode they can't clock in until they share their location at work.

How accurate is the location check?

Phones are usually accurate to 10 to 50 m, and less accurate indoors. Hourvy allows for the accuracy each phone reports, up to an extra 100 m, on top of the radius you set.
